Seattle Dental Insurance Information

Avatar for editor by editor

Many of my patients ask me how important I think it is to have dental insurance. In my professional opinion, if you are a young individual who is healthy, has no current dental problems and visits the dentist twice a year for regular cleanings and check-ups you may not need it if you can’t really afford it. The cost of simply getting the cleanings, which is all you’ll likely need most of the time if you have good oral hygiene, is usually less than the cost of dental insurance.

However, if you’re dental health is not ideal, you have several dental problems which will need to be fixed at sometime and your level of oral hygiene isn’t the best, you should consider getting dental insurance as it will actually save you money in the long run. Dental procedures can prove to be very costly. Although most communities have fluoride which does help reduce dental problems and save vast amounts of money for many people, the millions of people yearly who need to have fillings, crowns, root canals or teeth extracted who don’t have dental insurance probably wish that they did.

If you would like to have dental insurance but don’t have it because your job doesn’t supply it or you couldn’t afford it, you may want to consider and “Reduced Fee Dental Plan.” The advantages of these types of plans include the following:

-Not necessary to examine for preexisting dental problems

-No complicated forms that need to be filled out and sent to the companies

-No Deductibles

-Regardless of your current health, enrollment is available to anyone.

Most important to most people on this plan, there is no set annual maximum benefit. You’re able to use the plan as much and as frequently as you need.
